Coteaux de l’Ardèche, Rhone Valley
France’s Ardèche region boasts the kind of clay- and limestone-rich soil that makes winemakers salivate. This red blend of 40% Cinsault, 40% Grenache and 20% Syrah is a perfect example of the Ardèche’s awesome terroir and a formidable competitor to any top-flight Côtes du Rhone.
Fermented with indigenous yeast only and from certified organic and biodynamic grapes, the “Petite Selve” shows pure red berries accented by woodsy spice and a hint of black licorice. The wine was also aged on its fine lees and never saw hide nor hair of oak (maturation in concrete vat only), making for a silky, elemental red with ripe fruit at its fore.
