97+pts, Robert Parker Wine Advocate
The deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate issues forth with a bombastic nose of crème de cassis, plum preserves, blueberry pie and Indian spices with touches of earth, tobacco, meat and wood smoke plus a waft of cedar. Full, rich, concentrated, very firm and grainy, it's lively and packed with fruit, finishing layered and long.

96pts Wine Enthusiast
Made by consulting winemaker Martha McClellan, this is a dark, brooding mountain wine, brawny in leather, baked cherry and raspberry. Secondary components of meat and oak are embraced in soft expansive tannins that contribute lush creamy texture and cohesion. It has an enduring element of spicy savory pepper, baking spice and tobacco that endure on the palate. Enjoy 2025–2035.

94pts, Vinous
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate has turned out beautifully. Rich, sumptuous and racy, the 2015 captures all the potential I saw when I tasted the wine from barrel. Black cherry, plum, mocha, espresso, chocolate and licorice are all nicely pushed forward in this bold, extroverted Cabernet.

A 97+pt Spring Mountain Cabernet stunner, this is a highly coveted gem from the numeric-enthusiast folks at Vineyard 7&8. 2015 was a smaller vintage across Napa (and Sonoma too), but one of immense quality and depth of flavor. This Estate Cab showcases the sustainable love infused into the 8-acre vineyard to produce a wine that’s expressive, pure and complex. Over 40% of the blend was fermented whole berry in new French Oak barriques creating increased aromatics, texture and tannin integration.

Wine Advocate, 97+pts, says it "issues forth with a bombastic nose of crème de cassis, plum preserves, blueberry pie and Indian spices with touches of earth, tobacco, meat and wood smoke plus a waft of cedar. Full, rich, concentrated, very firm and grainy, it's lively and packed with fruit, finishing layered and long.” Wine Enthusiast, 96pts, calls it "a dark, brooding mountain wine” and Vinous, 94pts says it’s a "bold, extroverted Cabernet.”

The wine has a lot to offer and true Napa Cabernet enthusiasts, especially those with an affinity for the mountain-grown offerings, will love the balance, grippiness and nuance in this wine. Simply lovely and se to age for many years to come.

TASTING NOTES

Complex, pure and bursting with fresh fruit notes of black cherry, blackberry, blueberry pie, crème de cassis and hints of earth, tobacco, savory peppers, cedar, espresso and smoke. Rich, bold, broad with well-integrated tannins and a long finish.

THE STORY TO KNOW

After a measured and patient search for a vineyard property in the Napa Valley, the Steffens Family ended their quest when they acquired a forty-acre property atop Spring Mountain. Planted in the early 1980’s to eight acres of each Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, the property met the family’s stringent requirements to sustainably grow premium grapes allowing them to craft wines with a true sense of place.

Founded in 1999 and named after proprietor Launny Steffens’ life and background in the world of finance with a theme encompassed by numerics, and a keen interest in numerology — “seven” being a number of luck in western culture, while “eight” follows the meanings of prosperity and happiness in eastern culture — Vineyard 7 & 8 is the culmination of the family’s pursuit for producing fine wines including Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
