Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon

This old-world classic gets an iconic California twist thanks to James Beard Award winner Master Sommelier Will Sherer. Ancient vines in Mendocino’s famed Lolonis Vineyard give their sage wisdom in this complex and delicious bottle while Yountville Semillon adds vibrancy.

Age and Grace: There’s a Bordeaux-esque quality in this glass. It’s citrus peel and deeply perfumed fruit flavors have just a hint of earth and dried flowers. The lovely aromas and flavors of old-vine Sauv Blanc and Yountville Semillon captured the imagination of our sourcing team and we’re excited to see where time will take our new favorite Somm.

We Stand with Sherer: Master Sommelier Willi has a nose for great wine. He jumped at the opportunity to add the title “winemaker” to already his illustrious resumé. While Willi’s wine program at Aureole (Vegas baby!) won him his James Beard Award, it is his masterful touch with Old Vine Sauv Blanc and Semillon that won our sourcing team’s heart.

Pithy lemon notes and seductive jasmine invite you into this zippy glassful. Tropical papaya notes stride with dried white roses and ripe nectarine to a finish that lingers and refreshes.

William “Willi” Sherer is a master of many things. The 37th person in the US to pass the Master Sommelier Examination, he’s followed his passion for wine since the mid-1980s. Willi (we’re friends now) travelled coast to coast, making several stops in between, starting pioneering wine programs. His mastery of wine draws quite the crowd, and in 2005 he won the James Beard Award for “Best wine service in America.”

In between curating stellar wine lists and mentoring coworkers and the next generation of rising stars, Willi created a different sort of wine list: his own. Iberian Remix and Somm Blanc are just two labels that owe their existence and excellence to Willi Sherer.
